Randomness can indeed inspire creative ideas, yet creativity itself ought not to be invariably random.

To harness creativity effectively, one must break free from conventional thinking while maintaining control over the creative process. The proliferation of AI tools has enabled the creation of impressive works, yet these often result from random, hit-or-miss attempts rather than consistent, reproducible skill. True creativity should be reliably at one's disposal, not left to chance.

This principle applies even when using AI tools. If a creation cannot be replicated, it may not truly reflect one's skill. Understanding this is crucial for focusing on and developing fundamental skills, ensuring that imagination translates into consistent, reliable outcomes. This is the essence of controlled creativity.

Consider the example of realtime LCMs (Latent Consistency Models). Despite their popularity, their current state of development often results in unpredictable outputs. This lack of precision in control means they do not yet embody true controlled creativity. I anticipate that Adobe, with its history of integrating AI models like the Diffusion model into Adobe Firefly, will soon incorporate LCMs into Photoshop. This integration would provide a level of control and precision currently lacking. Other AI developers face a considerable journey to replicate the comprehensive features of Photoshop. Currently, they are merely combining open-source models and extensions. However, should Adobe's developers dedicate themselves, integrating LCM into Photoshop and enhancing it as a formidable feature may not present significant challenges.

Some digital artists may view the use of LCMs in Photoshop as cheating. Note that we are already cheating in that regard by utilizing the existing advantages of digital tools, like stabilizing wobbly strokes or allowing unlimited undos. However, these tools are merely enhancements that allow artists to explore new levels of creativity.

Ultimately, the key is maintaining control over the creative process. No matter how many advanced AI tools are available, without control, there is no true growth or development in creativity. The focus should be on mastering the fundamentals and waiting for the emergence of definitive industry-standard tools. Tools may change, but the core principles of creativity remain constant.

Time and effort are best valued when they are controlled and directed purposefully.

Meanwhile, get out there and see more of the world. Even the best skills aren't enough without enough fuel for your imagination.

Let me state the obvious again: nobody can dream up something completely new, not without some past experience to base your imagination on. You've got to have seen something like a reptile to even think of a dragon.

Go find more dragons to inspire you.

Controllable dragons.
